Hospice services are a comprehensive set of services provided by an interdisciplinary group of experts and professionals, often referred to as the IDG or IDT. It seeks to improve and maintain the quality of life of hospice patients and their families through a care plan that addresses their physical, spiritual, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
Our Programs
Hospice Care
Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and most private insurances. Services covered by most hospice benefits include visits from the IDG members (physician/NP, nurse, hospice aides, social worker, chaplain, and volunteers, as well as medications, supplies, equipment that are related to the hospice diagnosis).
The hospice care philosophy is neither to hasten nor postpone death. Hospice care integrates both psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care while managing symptoms. Hospice care is focused on the palliative needs of patients and does not involve curative treatment of their underlying conditions.
Hospice care offers a support system to help patients and their families to maximize comfort and maintain their quality of life.
